A launch monitor pointed at a putt is measuring the wrong thing
Putting is a rolling problem, not a flight problem. So the putter session leaves the main bay entirely and runs on a calibrated surface with a separate capture rig built for roll onset, skid distance and start-line dispersion.
Four numbers that decide whether a putt starts where you aimed it
Launch and skid. Every putt leaves the face slightly airborne and skids before it begins true rolling. How far it skids depends on loft at impact, shaft lean, and where on the face the ball was struck. A long skid is a putt that has been nudged offline before it ever started rolling.
Roll onset distance. The point at which the ball transitions to genuine forward roll. Earlier and more consistent onset means the ball is far less affected by the first few inches of grain and surface texture, which is where most short putts go wrong.
Start-line dispersion. The spread of initial directions across a block of putts. This is the single most predictive number in the session and it responds to length, lie and head weight more than golfers expect.
Face angle at impact relative to path. Measured, not inferred. On a ten-foot putt, a face half a degree open is a missed putt, and no amount of green-reading fixes it.
Why almost every putter on the market is too long for its owner
Standard putters are built at 34 or 35 inches. A large share of golfers are better served between 32.5 and 34, and the consequences of the extra inch are not subtle.
Eye line moves inside
A putter that is too long pushes you to stand further from the ball, which places your eyes inside the target line. From there, every putt looks like it is breaking more than it is and you aim right without knowing.
The toe sits up
Excess length raises the toe at address and again at impact, which effectively closes the face relative to your aim. It is a consistent, invisible left bias.
The hands lose the arc
Too much length forces the arms in against the body and changes the stroke arc, usually adding manipulation that shows up directly in start-line spread.

Speed is verified before your session, not assumed
The putting surface is measured for speed at the start of every operating day and the reading goes on your sheet alongside everything else. A surface that has drifted two feet on the stimp over a month would quietly change every distance-control conclusion drawn on it, and nobody would notice.
Putts are captured at four fixed distances so blocks can be compared to each other and to your next session. Green speed at your home course goes on the sheet too, because a putter fitted for distance control on a fast surface behaves differently on a slow one.
The output is the same three documents as every other session: the capture table with every accepted putt, the condition sheet including the measured surface speed, and a build spec covering length, lie, loft, head weight, grip and shaft geometry.
