Questions We Get

Sixteen answers, none of them evasive

If your question is not here, call (317) 555-0164 or use the contact form. We would rather answer it before you book than after.

Is an indoor fitting as good as an outdoor one?

Indoors is more repeatable and less representative. Outdoors is more representative and far less repeatable. The correct answer is to capture indoors where the variables hold still, log the room, apply a stated adjustment, and offer an outdoor confirmation in season. A fitting that hides which of those two environments produced a number is the only genuinely bad option.

Why do you run two launch monitors instead of one good one?

Because they measure different things. A doppler unit tracks the ball through flight; an optical unit photographs the club and ball at impact. Each infers what the other measures directly. Running both means the inferred values can be checked against the measured ones, and a disagreement becomes visible instead of invisible.

What does the condition sheet actually contain?

Bay air temperature, barometric pressure, relative humidity, ball model and condition, hitting surface, both capture systems and their last calibration timestamp, the discard rule in force, and the count of accepted versus attempted strikes for every candidate club.

Am I obligated to buy clubs from you?

No. The build spec is written to be executed by any competent builder and it is handed over at the end of the session either way. Around a third of our sessions do not result in a component order here.

How long does a session take?

A single-category session runs about 90 minutes. An iron set session runs 105 to 120. A full bag audit is scheduled for three hours with a genuine break in the middle. We do not double-book bays, so the time is yours.

How many balls will I hit?

Typically 60 to 90 accepted strikes for a single category, spread across candidates with rest between blocks. Fatigue changes your delivery, and a fatigued sample fitted to a stiff shaft produces a stiff-shaft recommendation you will regret in month two.

What if I am not consistent enough to be fitted?

This is the most common worry and it is almost always misplaced. Dispersion is information. A wider spread means we need more strikes and we weight different variables, not that a fitting is pointless. The only golfer we genuinely turn away is someone still in their first few months of the game with no repeatable motion at all.

Do you fit clubs I already own?

Yes, and it is a large share of our work. Re-shafting, tipping, length and lie changes, grip sizing, and swing weight adjustment are often the cheapest meaningful improvement available. We will say so when it applies.

What ball do you use?

A premium urethane reference ball, replaced on a fixed schedule rather than when it looks worn. If you play a different model regularly, bring a sleeve and we will run a block with it so the sheet reflects your actual ball.

Can I use my own clubs as a baseline?

You should. Bring them. Without a baseline there is no evidence that anything improved, only a set of absolute numbers that mean very little on their own.

Do you fit left-handed golfers?

Yes. Our head and shaft inventory is smaller on the left side, as everyone's is, but every category we offer is available. Booking a week ahead lets us pull specific left-handed heads in if needed.

Do you fit juniors?

Yes, from roughly age nine upward. Junior sessions are shorter, priced lower, and usually end with a smaller recommendation than parents expect. We fit to grow into with a defined review point rather than selling a full set that will be wrong in a year.

Is there a fee to re-check a spec later?

Returning clients pay a reduced re-check rate for a single-club verification within eighteen months. Lie angle drift and groove wear are real, and a re-check is much cheaper than a re-fit.

What happens if my current clubs are already right?

We tell you, note it on the sheet, and charge the session fee only. It happens often enough that we made "no change needed" one of our five published rules rather than an awkward exception.

Do you take walk-ins?

No. Both bays are appointment-only because a session requires the room, the calibration state, and an uninterrupted fitter. Mondays are appointment-only for build and maintenance work.

How far ahead should I book?

Weekday slots usually open within a week. Saturdays run two to three weeks out from March through June. If you want a specific fitter, add a week to those figures.

Bays fill first on Saturdays
